Day 38: They Call Me Russel….
Well I
didn’t avoid the hangover! I woke up with a horrible headache and wished I
hadn’t drunk so much because we were going to be traveling all day long. I
commandeered Brittany’s sunglasses and wore them all day long. I was starving
so we left Hugo early and stopped by the bakery and got lunches for the long
trek ahead, but then ate them when we got to the train station along with the
best French fries in the world. I was basically a bottomless pit and ate a ton
of fries and mayo plus all of my BLT triple stack sandwich in less than no
time. After our meal we got on the train, which Caryn almost missed and headed
to Texel. We rode the train for what seemed like all day and then we reached
Den Helder and took a bus to the Ferry, which took us to Texel. By the time we
had gotten on the Ferry I was starved so I took out my croissant from the
Friesian Bakery and had that. Once we got to Texel we had to rent bikes. I was worried
they wouldn’t have enough short bikes for us, but even little tiny Jaz fit on
the bikes. Then we were off to our home for the weekend called Elba. This is
Steef’s sister’s house. After that we had to dump out our backpacks and head
into Den Burg to get groceries for the weekend. We bought so much food, but I
guess you have to have a lot of food when you have to feed 11 people. After
that we made soup for dinner. We tried the traditional pea soup, which I
thought I would hate because it is peas but it was actually really good, and
mushroom soup for Mom because there is meat in the pea soup. After dinner we
all hung out, drank tea, and talked, getting to know each other better. We also
heard that the second prince was in an avalanche accident and could be in
critical condition. He isn’t in line for the thrown though because he had a
marriage that was not approved by the royal family. While talking Brittany,
Jazmyn and I practiced our photography skills for the week. These pictures
didn’t turn out so great so I won’t post them. I forgot to explain the whole
Russel thing so here goes. While waiting in line to get our tickets Brittany
looked over and told me I looked like Russel Brand. I guess my shaggy bangs,
big sunglasses and generally disgusted look reminded her of Russel. I took that
as a compliment though because I love him!
