Day 52: You're an Old Building!
Well all today was a really really early morning we woke up at like 4:00 am to get showered and to the Train Station by 7 am. Ya it was kind of rough especially as all of us had gone to bed around 1 am. Whoops! The pub crawl might not have been the best idea last night, but it was still nice to say we did one. We made it to the train and Brittany passed out right away, but I didn't as the scenery was so beautiful. (I did sneak a little nap in as I was SO tired). We finally got to Cork around 9:45 ish and had to catch a bus to the bus station where there we would catch a bus to Blarney Castle. Ya it sounds as exhausting as it was. But it was all worth it because I got to kiss the Blarney Stone!!!!! Now I will be even better at kissing butt then I was before! But I should tell you about the castle itself. It was amazing and terrifying at the same time. From the outside you get to see this really soundly built building and as you get inside you see just how well it was made. The terrifying part was walking up the stairs. You wouldn't think this would be scary, but with a really heavy backpack and a tiny space and being afraid of heights it wasn't the best decent up to the top. At one point I slipped a little, but when I got to the top the view was breath taking! You could see the whole area around the castle, which was all natural and green. I could have stayed here forever, but after we kissed the stone we booked it down the nicer stairs and went and had our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After finishing them we headed to the poison garden where there was everything from plants found in Harry Potter to wolves bane! It was really a neat garden. Then we found this huge tree that was a perfect one to climb, if you could jump. We spent a good amount of time trying to get Brittany up into the tree before Freddy had to sit in the tree and pull her up while Jaz pushed her up from behind. It was probably the most hilarious thing I had witnessed! I got a video, but it was on Brittany's camera as mine died. From our tree adventures we went on a hike and found a hidden area that looked like it came right out of Jurassic Park, a nice lake, and got a little wet from the rain. We then arrived at the stone garden where I walked up and down the wishing stairs, hopefully my wish comes true within the year like it said it would, and I got to see the witches stone! From here we decided to kill some time as there was an hour left before our bus came and we hit up a café. Jazmyn had Bailey's cheesecake, which was to die for and Freddy had chili fries. Brittany and I just had the FREE water, so glad water is free in Ireland! Then we made it back to our bus where we ended up back in Cork where we ate to go food, BLAHG! I had a cheeseburger and fries with a Diet coke, as it was the most filling thing on the menu that was really cheap. Then we got on our train to Killarney, finally making it there at almost nine. Our hostel here was really cute and we stayed in the smurf room. I ended up going to bed later because there was a huge party outside our room that stayed up late drinking and talking really loud, I believe in French.
