One Long Day!!!

Day 61: Can't we just be home?

We finally got on the plane at 7 am, both Brittany and I pass out before the plane even leaves and we total about 2 hours of sleep for the night to prepare us for a long day. We get off of the plane hit up the nearest bathroom to see just how awful we look then head to customs. Of course we end up having to wait to see if our residency permit is processing, delaying our perfectly executed plan. Oh I forgot to tell you the itinerary for the day. We land at 9:10 have class at 10-1 then class from 2-5 then have a lecture to attend in Amsterdam at 6 followed by writing a paper for our tuesday class, that we found out about before our trip to Amsterdam. Ya pretty crazy I know. So back to the story. We were already delayed because we had to be approved to enter the Netherlands, then we were delayed even further by the lengthy lines at the train ticket office. See Brittany never received her Train Reduction card, which if she had had we would have made class on time. Because we were so late anyway we stopped and grabbed breakfast and lunch for the day and headed of to see that we had to wait until 10:06 to catch a 15 minute train ride to Leiden. We ended up getting to class 40 minutes late with a round of applause from our classmates! Here we had to present our Country Reports, which Brittany's was not completely done yet (she finished it during break). Finally one class was done and we made it through to Photography. In photography we had to present our  Black and White photos and learned that next weeks assignment was supposed to be abstract (which isn't really my thing) thus putting me in more of a damper mood. From here we left class exactly at 5 to sprint to the station and catch a train to Amsterdam for a lecture about Globalization. Thank goodness they offered free tea and coffee as well as dang good sugar cookies, because I don't think I could have survived without them. The lecture was awful, probably because I didn't want to be there and the speaker wasn't making any sense, but finally it ended and we headed back to Leiden. Thank goodness the grocery store was still opened because Brittany and I needed food, but had to carry it back without bags. At the end of the day we ended up getting to our bedrooms at 9:00 where I, instead of writing my paper, passed out from exhaustion.
